“PILE UP”
NOELLE WHITAKER DEBUT SOLO EXHIBITION
AUGUST 8th-12th 2024 AT GEORGETOWN STEAMPLANT 6605 13th Ave S, Seattle, WA 98108
A location and a feeling, "Pile Up" is the intersection of romance and catastrophe through collision. The Vehicle is a resilient symbol of oneself and one's elected partner, as their spontaneous meeting and harsh departure mirror that of a contemporary relationship. In the artist's narrative, collision is glamorized as a chance—innocent, instant, but not without consequence.
The pavement pops. It could be a reconnection or a gust of summer wind through your hair at 65mph. Either way, the experience is Balmy, Awakening, High Stakes. Through this game of dance, we reveal our patterns to observant drivers. If adjustments are not correctly made, a routine, once freeing, could make an irreversible impact. Eventually, you'd be left with something else entirely.
Does this feel familiar? Or are you better at reading signs at high speeds?
